Express gratitude, not only to Allah (ﷻ) but also to His creation. Thank those who have done something good for you.

Our beloved Prophet (ﷺ) advised us: “Whoever has a favor done for him should repay it. If he cannot find anything he can use to repay it, he should praise the one who did it. When he praises him, he thanks him. *If he is silent, he is ungrateful to him.*”

“He who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah.”

“If one is done a kindness and [expresses his gratitude] to his benefactor by saying ‘May Allah give you a good reward’, he has fully expressed his appreciation.”

Expressing gratitude has powerful effects on our relationships. We can all agree that being appreciated feels great. When we feel appreciated it increases our sense of worth and motivates us to do more. Let’s start building a culture of appreciation. Do it now! Give your parent/spouse/child a hug and say Jazakum Allah khairan, send a text to a friend, buy a thank you card, or maybe send an email to a teacher you really appreciate. Express your appreciation to those who have done favors for you no matter how small it may seem.

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
