Losing a Child

Once a man who lost two children went to Abu Hurairah and said, “My two children have died. Would you narrate a Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ to me that which will console us for our loss?” Abu Hurairah said, “their little ones are the little ones (da’aamees) of Paradise. When one of them meets his father/mother – he takes hold of his/her garment – or his/her hand – as I am taking told of the hem of your garment, and he does not let go until Allah admits him and his father/mother to Paradise.” [Muslim]

Another man later came to Abu Hurairah and said, “A son of mine died and I feel intense grief and sorrow over his loss. Have you heard anything from the Prophet ﷺ to cheer us regarding our dead?’ He replied, I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, ‘Your children are roaming freely in the Garden’.” [Bukhārī]

May Allāh ﷻ reunite us with our loved ones in the gardens of Paradise with the Prophet ﷺ, ameen!
